My name is Lila Gaertner and I am in my third year at the University of Regina. I was recently accepted into the Middle Years Education Program in July 2015 and I am super excited to be living my dreams and taking a new journey as I prepare to become a Middle Years teacher.
Here are some things that you need to know about me. I grew up on a farm North of Tisdale, SK with four older sisters named Crystal, Naomi, Tammy and Bethany; my Mom and Dad; three cats named: Breeze, Mustachio, and Blackie; and one dog named Oreo. I also grew up going to school at TES and TMSS in a small town called Tisdale and I enjoyed the small town vibe while I lived there, but now I don’t mind living in the city of Regina, SK.
Before attending the U of R, I attended a school in Camrose, AB called CLBI, which stands for Canadian Lutheran Bible Institute. I graduated there in 2014 with a Bachelor of Applied Christian Studies in Youth and Children’s Ministry (BACS). So I have a lot of experience teaching youth and children in a ministerial setting. Though, I am looking forward to furthering my education on becoming a teacher in a more formal classroom setting.
I love children of all ages, but am excited to take on the challenge of teaching Middle Years students in grades six to nine. Those few years were probably the best years of my childhood because I remember the teachers being absolutely amazing at their job. They were positive, encouraging and helped me learn something new every day. I hope to be one of those teachers that is remembered by students because I want to be a teacher who leaves a positive impact on their lives. I feel very blessed to have been given this great opportunity to serve and speak into other young student’s lives.
Thanks for reading!
